I had an excellent weekend. I did something I haven't done for a long time: diving into a completely new field of programming.
During the last 3 days I wrote my very first Android application, I learned how to use Eclipse and it's debugger, I got a basic knowledge on the Android APIs and how apps work and I refreshed my ancient Java knowledge.
Oh and because that's not enough, I also wrote my own simple parser for the iCal format. Using it, I reduced the application size to just 160kb – from over 2MB with the defacto standard IC4j library. Sometimes size matters 
The app is already working, but there are a few more things I like to finish before releasing it on the Market. I'll tell you more about it then – this post is just to celebrate a good weekend
